The Spanish National infrastructure
Abstract: Spanish National Biobank Network (SNBN) is an initiative of the Spanish Institute of Health Charles III with the main goal of promote biomedical research of excellence, adding value to the Spanish Biobank system in a coordinate manner. Based on previous cooperative initiatives it was created in 2010, and is currently working in its second period (2014-2017) integrating 52 institution, mainly hospital-based and disease-oriented general biobanks following the Spanish legislative framework in force. SNBN is managed from a coordination office based on the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO).
